What technology will do to you

So this week one of the girls on my caseload ran away. The school called me and told me she was gone and they had looked everywhere for her. I called her mom and sister to let them know, mostly because I knew she was headed their direction and would either call them, or her brother. Her mom called me back to say a name and number had shown up on the house caller ID, and all their cell phones. The first 3 numbers were a Provo land line number and we were sure it was her. I called my secretary and had her look up the name in our system. She couldn't find it. She googled it and still couldn't find it. I called the vice principal to ask about the name. Nothing. After a lot of searching and agonizing, and calling the police involved, it FINALLY occurred to me, "look it up in the phone book". We looked it up and sure enough! there it was. I went to the house (with a police escort of course), and she wasn't there. She had just left. If only it had occurred to me first to look it up in the phone book.....see what technology does to a person? We forget the good 'ol things that have worked for a long time....Thanks Dex!

For the record we did find her the next day....bless her little heart!
